Introduction

Recap can be used to easily track your crypto assets and view your total holdings and portfolio growth over time across all your accounts and wallets.

Recap can view all your transaction history in one place and allow you to share data with a SAAS pension provider to enable them to have read-only access to your transaction history. This enables transparency about the movement of funds and facilitates compliance with SAAS pension rules.

Getting started

  1. Create a new Recap account for your pension

Head over to app.recap.io/signup and create a new account. We recommend using a separate account for your SAAS pension to avoid cross-pollination of funds or accounts. You can set up a fresh Recap account here: app.recap.io/signup.

  2. Back up your recovery phrase

Once you have set up your account it's important that you back up your recovery phrase. The first time you sign in you'll be prompted to back up your phrase in the banner at the top. It's important that you keep your recovery phrase safe, without it we are unable to reset your account. Read more about why this is important here.

  3. Connecting exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken) via API

The next step is to connect your crypto accounts to Recap. For long-term savings (such as a pension) cold storage ( e.g. using a Ledger or Trezor) is recommended but it's important that we also capture transactions for the initial purchase of your crypto assets.

    1. Connecting Coinbase

Connecting a Coinbase account is simple. Generate some new read-only API keys in Coinbase and then add them to Recap. You can read more in our detailed guide here: Link

    2. Connecting Kraken

    3. Connecting other accounts

Before connecting another account it's important to check with your pension provider that your exchange is supported. If so you can read about how to connect other exchanges in our documentation portal here.

  4. Connecting cold storage (Ledger or Trezor)

If you've moved your assets into a cold wallet or a hardware wallet such as a Ledger or Trezor then you should also connect this to Recap. Each wallet has its own unique public address which can be obtained from the corresponding wallet app.

    1. Connecting Ledger

      1. Open the Ledger Live App

      2. Tap on the asset that you want to connect (e.g. Bitcoin or Ethereum)

      3. Choose "Receive" and copy the address shown on the screen

      4. Inside Recap navigate to Accounts > Add Account > Wallet

      5. Choose the corresponding blockchain (e.g. Ethereum) and paste in the address from Step iii

    2. Connecting Trezor

      1. Open the Trezor Suite App

  5. Share your data with your pension provider

    1. Ensure that you have backed up your recovery phrase and verified your email.

    2. Choose 'Settings' and 'Agent Sharing'.

    3. Press 'Invite Accountant'

    4. Optionally, press 'edit' to set your name.

    5. Enter 'admin@empoweredpensions.co.uk' and press Send Invitation to start an invite.

    5. Empowered Pensions will receive and accept your invitation.

    6. You'll receive an email stating that it's been accepted.

    7. Finally: Return to 'Settings' > 'Agent Sharing' and press 'Authorise' to complete the share.
