Recap supports connecting to Poloniex using our API integration.
This allows Recap to automatically import your Poloniex transaction history and keep your account up to date.
This guide will walk you through creating an API key on Poloniex and connecting it to Recap.
Step 1: Create your Poloniex API key
Go to https://www.poloniex.com and log in to your account.
Navigate to the Settings tab.
Navigate to the API Keys tab within the profile tab
Click the Enable API button.
Enter your 2FA code when prompted.
You will be sent an email instructing you to confirm the action. Once confirmed you will be redirected back to to Poloniex.
Click the Create New Key button.
You will be sent a second email, again asking you to confirm the action before being redirected back to Poloniex.
Your API key and Secret will now be visible ready to saved securely so you can enter them into Recap during Step 2 below.
Important:
⚠️ Do NOT click Enable Withdrawals.
⚠️ The API secret is only shown once. Make sure you save it securely.
Step 2: Add your Poloniex account to Recap
Log in to your Recap account and navigate to the Accounts screen.
Click Add account in the top-right corner.
Select Connect to Exchange API followed by Next.
Choose Poloniex then click Next again.
Name your account (e.g., "Poloniex") and click Next.
Enter your ID and Secret then click Next
Recap will now verify the connection and begin importing your transaction history.
Step 3: Review your imported transactions
If your history is large, the initial sync may take a few minutes to complete.
Navigate to the Activity screen.
Check that deposits, withdrawals, trades, and transfers appear correctly.
Once connected, Recap will automatically keep your account up to date.
Managing your API connection
You can view or remove the Poloniex connection at any time from the Accounts screen.
If your API key is revoked or expires, create a new one on Poloniex and reconnect it in Recap.
Troubleshooting & common issues
Invalid API key or secret
Double-check that all details were copied correctly and without extra spaces.Missing transactions
Some platforms limit how far back API data is available.Permission errors
Ensure the API key has read-only permissions enabled.
Security notes
Recap only requires read-only API access and therefore cannot move funds or place trades.
You can revoke API access at any time from the Poloniex website.
