Strike is a Bitcoin-focused payments app that allows you to buy, sell, send, and receive Bitcoin.

You can import your transaction history into Recap using a CSV file with our dedicated Strike integration. This method gives you full control over your data and ensures that all relevant transactions are included for accurate portfolio tracking and tax calculations.

This guide will walk you through how to export your transaction history from Strike and import it into Recap.

Step 1: Export your Strike transaction history

  1. Log in to your Strike account on the web at https://strike.me

  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Documents.

  3. Download all available annual statements, as well as any monthly statements for the current year.

This ensures Recap can process your full transaction history up to the most recent month.

  4. For each statement:

    • Click the three dots (⋯) next to the document

    • Select Export as CSV

Make sure you repeat this process for every relevant statement so no transactions are missed.

Step 2: Add your Strike account to Recap

  1. Open Recap and navigate to the Accounts screen.

  2. At the top right of the screen, click Add account.

  3. Select Upload Exchange Statements followed by Next.

  4. Choose Strike then click Next again.

  5. Name your account (e.g., "Strike CSV") and click Next.

Step 3: Upload your Strike CSV files

  1. In the Accounts screen, find your newly created Strike Exchange Statement account, click the Settings cog and then select Manage CSV Files.

  2. Drag your CSV files into the designated box, or click inside the box to browse and select your Strike CSV file(s) from your computer.

If uploading multiple CSV files (e.g., for different years), repeat this step as needed.

  3. Wait for the file to process and review any import messages or warnings.

Recap will automatically combine and process the files to build your complete transaction history.

Note: Due to the Bed and Breakfast tax rule for capital gains, you must ensure that you include transactions made 30 days after the end of the tax year.

Step 4: Review Your Imported Transactions

  1. Navigate to the Activity screen to check your imported transactions.

  2. Use filters to confirm deposits, withdrawals, trades, and other transactions are accurately recorded.

  3. If you notice any missing or incorrect transactions, manually adjust them as needed.

Troubleshooting & Common Issues

  • CSV Format Errors: Ensure the file matches Strike's official format and hasn’t been modified by spreadsheet software.

  • Missing Transactions: Check if the full transaction history is included in the exported file and verify the date range.

  • Duplicate Transactions: If importing multiple files, make sure there’s no overlap in the date ranges.

Keeping Your Data Up to Date

  • If you continue using Strike for crypto transactions, periodically download and import new CSV files to keep your Recap account current.

  • Consider maintaining a regular schedule for updating your CSV imports to ensure accurate reporting.
