Recap's Agent Sharing allows users to securely share their data with an Agent (such as an accountant, tax advisor or wealth manager). Our approach prioritises your security and privacy ensuring that only you and anyone you explicitly authorise will have access to your data.
Remember - our end-to-end encrypted architecture means that the Recap team has no access to your data.
Here's how it works:
To authorise a share we require user initiation to start sharing, acceptance by an agent and then a final confirmation step from the user to complete the share.
Follow these steps to get started:
You send an invite to your Agent using the Recap sharing menu or send them your unique code. They will receive an email with instructions.
2. Your Agent receives an email invite and chooses 'accept' or uses the code generated in Step 1. When they've accepted the invite, you'll receive an email update.
3. You double-opt-in by authorising this pending share in your sharing settings. This final step completes the share. You will both get a confirmation email.
4. Your agent can now see your account data and tax reports in their Agent Portal!
Is sharing secure? Can Recap see my data?
Yes, very secure and we can never see your data. We use a double-opt-in approach for sharing to ensure that you only ever share data with someone that you know and trust. This approach makes it very difficult to accidentally share your data with the wrong person or a malicious actor. Whilst double-opt-in requires one more step than you might normally see for this type of feature, we believe the added security benefits make this worthwhile.
How long does sharing last?
By default access will expire after 90 days to ensure that your data remains private. IN an upcoming release you'll be able to choose this expiry yourself when you start a share.
How do I cancel or remove a share?
Access can be revoked at any time in the settings area by using the 'cancel' button next to the share that you'd like to cancel.
Cancelled shares are instantly removed from your agents portal.
Do invite links / emails / codes expire?
Yes. Invite codes are valid for 7 days, after this you will need to create a new invite link/code.
