There may be times when you need to update the API credentials for an Exchange API Account in Recap, such as when your credentials have expired or stopped working.

To ensure the update is completed correctly, follow the steps outlined in this guide.

Important Note:
Always ensure that new API credentials are linked to the same exchange account.

Using credentials from a different account may cause syncing errors or even mix transaction data from multiple accounts, leading to inaccuracies.

Steps to Change API Credentials

1. Access Account Settings

  • Within Recap go to the Accounts screen

  • Select the account card for the exchange you need to update.

  • Click on the Settings tab.

2. Locate API Credentials

  • In the Settings tab, find the section labeled API Credentials.

  • Click the Change button.

Important:

It is not currently possible to change API credentials for all types of Exchange API Accounts. If the API Credentials section is not displayed, updating credentials for that account is not supported.

3. Enter New API Credentials

  • Input your new API key and secret for the exchange account.

  • Important: Ensure these credentials are for the same exchange account to avoid syncing issues and data inaccuracies.

  • Confirm and save your new API credentials.

  • Allow Recap to sync with the exchange using the updated credentials.

Important Notes

  • Ensure the new API credentials are read-only and have the necessary permissions (e.g., access to your trade history) as required by Recap for data syncing.

  • Double-check that the credentials belong to the same exchange account to avoid errors with syncing or inaccurate data.

  • If you encounter any issues during this process, contact Recap support for assistance.
